Only four chalets inside a safe, fenced yard with fantastic view from each chalet onto two water-holes. One can sit on your veranda and wait for the big 5 or other game and birds to stroll or fly by. The chalets are excellent with attention given to the finest detail. Going on a game-drive on an open game-view 4×4 on private routes that visitors may not travel on their own and listening to and learning from Günter, a registered guide and one owner, is a must! His wife Anita is co-owner and as a team they pay attention to the finest detail on the property. We had a wonderful bush break, a very short distance from Pretoria, but made us feel like we were far away from the city. Our game drive with Peter as our guide, was very exciting, seeing rhino and lions. We can recommend this to anyone, the accommodation was outstanding, the hosts were very friendly and we saw lots of animals.

We did both a morning and late afternoon drive with Gunther and would highly recommend his services. Plus we got to see his lodge, Abendruhe, with his wife, Anita, showing us one of the wooden cabins. Anita &… read more Gunter, the hosts, are extremely accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable about the reserve and its wildlife. Their cabins are lovely in terms of space, facilities and cleanliness and the sparkling swimming pool with help yourself ‘honesty bar’ are great for relaxing from the heat. The early morning game drive with Gunter was really interesting and is strongly recommended for anyone keen to learn about local nature. Anita’s muffins are a delicious bonus!

The game drives are fun and filled with information about the sites and sounds in the bush. The big-five reside in Dinokeng and I’ve seen elephants and lions. Lot’s of buck and birds can be seen. It’s a lovely place and so very close to Johannesburg.
